WHY SHARING YOUR STORY MATTERS

Victim-blaming, shaming, and cancel culture are at their highest in our society. This leaves survivors of psychological, sexual and physical abuse crippled with fear of standing up and sharing their stories. The fear of condemnation, further abuse and anxiety of public exclusion are high, leaving many survivors in the vicious cycle of suffering in silence.

We must not let ourselves be bullied by our society.

Research reveals that suppressing our emotions, not speaking up, and living in shame and secrecy are heavy burdens that take a tremendous toll on our bodies, minds, and spirits. As a survivor, sharing your story can be an incredible way to free yourself from these burdens and rediscover your voice and power. When we own our story and speak authentically, shame dissolves and no longer holds power. Furthermore, sharing your story is an opportunity to take the first step towards your sovereignty. You also offer healing, inspiration, and encouragement to others with similar stories. How beautiful is that?

At first, speaking up can be daunting and overwhelming, but it can also lead to a heightened sense of self-worth, confidence, empowerment, and freedom. That was the case for me.  I used to be terrified of using my voice, but now I’m a podcast host.
