Goblins Founding Product Engineer

The Vision

In the the typical American classroom, kids get 1/30th of their teachers' attention, and everyone learns at the same pace. This is an enormous bottleneck to their learning.
Enter Goblins Math. Goblins teaches math 4x faster than the typical classroom. Think of it like having 30 teachers in a single class: It lets students draw math on any device, and it figures out the "why" behind their confusion, giving them instant feedback, building their conceptual foundation, and inspiring them to love math.
We're building the backbone of the AI-led school, on the journey to inspiring 1 billion kids to love to learn.
Our founding team is ex-teachers & Stanford (3x), Meta, Stripe, and Amazon alumni. If you want to work with a top 1% team that is obsessed with blowing kids' minds, apply below. We'd love to chat.

Our Traction

Goblins serves 20,000 paid students across the US, growing 2x MoM. We’ve raised $5.5M from the Gates Foundation and top-tier funds.

We are in the unique position of having a product that is both highly differentiated and demanded. We’ve nailed retention and tight PMF, and it’s time to grow, fast.

About This Role

This is a full-stack engineer's role with a heavy focus on our next stage of growth: Your objective is to ensure that every one of the 350K math teachers in the United States is using Goblins as soon as possible (it’s already the best tool for them — they just don’t know it yet). Pulling this off entails a hacker’s mind (how can you subvert the system towards benevolent ends), a strong grasp on human psychology, an extreme sense of urgency, and full-stack technical chops.

This is a role for a self-starter: Your day-to-day work will be highly self-directed. You’ll design the experiments, build them, measure them, and double down or regroup, until you’ve hit the goal.

You'll also have opportunities to support the product team in an ops capacity, using the same bootstrapping mentality to expand curriculum, engineer our way past local/state bureaucracy, and beyond.

Some Cool Stuff You’ll Do

- Build highly shareable growth products with low time-to-magic that on-ramp users to the main product
- Build automations that turn wins (good student conversations, client success, etc.) into rich-media to share on social media
- Generate and automate the distribution of free assets across the web that lead teachers back to Goblins
- Build growth loops into the product to bring our viral factor above 1.
- Build features that improve the teacher experience and ensure teachers retain
- Build out the new modalities to support the rest of STEM (physics, biology, chemistry)
… and much more.

What You Need

- Unusual drive.
- Ease building full-stack app from scratch. Likely 1-2 YOE as SWE, or super strong growth mindset. If you're comfortable as a forward-deployed engineer or growth engineer, you'll fit right in.
- Comfort with rapid experimentation, data analysis, and automation and respective toolkits
- Willingness to prioritize the objective over the stack — you should be comfortable with pretending like you’re not an engineer sometimes and doing unscalable ops stuff
- Hacker’s mind, a strong grasp on human psychology, an extreme sense of urgency
- Willing to work in-person in New York City.

Would Be Nice

- Front-end design experience
- Experience growing something (a blog, a business, etc.) from scratch
