Commons-based: Producers and Consumers are the same people (prosumers).

Capitalist: Producers and Consumers are different and isolated from each other, that's why they need a way of attracting the consumers (advertising) and an expensive overhead to orchestrate the whole thing from commodity extraction to product design, manufacturing, legal compliance, and so on until reaching distribution methods.

Commons-based: There's no need of a complicated and expensive overhead. People consume what they produce, thus there are big incentives to produce quality work and build a happy, stable community that can host a more humane, ethical, eco-friendly system of provisioning without the pressure of debt, constant growth, and outside investors's needs.

Capitalist: Sales, profit, and growth are the metrics.

Consensus within communities creates instability and polarization. Consensus opens the door for dominant parties to emerge and seek to maintain a one-sided agenda.

Consent honors and respects the community's shared needs. Consent impedes domination to occur by not allowing a decision to pass if it negatively affects the interests of an individual or group of that community. Consent acknowledges that disagreement will emerge, so it devices ways to build common ground initiatives instead of winner and losers.

A method used only by commons to reach consent in efficient ways outside of the market and state's control.

A process for group deliberation and decisionmaking that lets all voices and perspectives be heard -- and then synthesized for the benefit of the whole enterprise.
