What You’ll Do:
We are seeking a methodical and detail-oriented computational biologist to support our research into high-performing microorganism species, and contribute to the development of our co-culture model. Leveraging your combined bioinformatics, microbiology, and mathematical modeling expertise, you will be responsible for combing through online genome libraries and research databases, identifying key microalgae and fungi strains and the value they could create in a co-culture, and then mapping those possibilities into our model, supporting the foundation of our predictive ingredient design platform.
While we are specifically looking for candidates bringing a combination of past experience with microbiological fermentation and bioinformatics, we are open to considering candidates with meaningful experience working in adjacent industries, including biopharmaceutical, bioengineering, and more. Any additional background with food science, machine learning models, and/or biotech startups would be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather and integrate genomic, biochemical, and phenotypic data
- Identify, test, and implement algorithms for model reconstruction
- Create, QC, refine and gap-fill genome-scale metabolic networks of microbial communities
- Formulate new algorithms to meet newly-discovered use cases
- Validate algorithms on historical and new data
- Assembling, curating, and annotating genomes
- Work closely with our CSO, other scientists, and the rest of our team to translate lab discoveries into scalable technologies
