Data Scientist – AI Startup

Location: UK-based, fully remote.

Compensation: £60k salary + equity.

About Us

We’re an early-stage startup building an AI Gig Hunting Agent for the 100M+ freelancers in developed markets. We’ve just raised our pre-seed round and are now moving quickly. This is our first full-time data science hire, and you will be working closely with the CTO and CEO.

Shoutt is an AI-powered gig-hunting agent that helps freelancers discover personalised work opportunities from across the web to auto-pilot. We give freelancers a superpower they’ve never had before.

The Role

We’re looking for a Data Scientist with strong commercial experience who can help us build reliable, scalable AI systems. You’ll focus on fine-tuning and optimising models, designing the right metrics, and making sure what we build works in practice for users at scale.

What You’ll Do

- Fine-tune and optimise LLMs and SLMs for production use.
- Design, implement, and track the metrics that guide model and product performance.
- Build systems that are robust, measurable, and scalable.
- Translate research into production-ready features.
- Contribute to core data science and MLOps practices in collaboration with the CTO.

What We’re Looking For

- UK-based, with the right to work in the UK.
- 4+ years of commercial experience as a Data Scientist.
- Hands-on expertise with LLMs, fine-tuning, RAG and SLMs.
- Strong track record of designing and implementing meaningful metrics.
- Proven ability to take ML/AI systems from prototype to production at scale.
- Startup mindset: adaptable, practical, moves fast and happy to get the job done.
