Green Animation Guide

To promote green practices in the animation industry, Ecoprod, CineRegio (the European network of regional film funds) and Green Film have formed a collective group dedicated to promoting green practices in the animation industry. The group's primary objective is to develop a Green Animation Guide for international use, with the aim of progressing towards an international certification system.

Developed collaboratively with Cine Regio and several regional film funds, including the ALCA (Book, Audiovisual and Cinema Agency in Nouvelle-Aquitaine), Catalonia Film Commission - ICEC, EC1 Lodz Film Commission, Film London, Screen Scotland, Trentino Film Commission & Fund, and Viken Filmsenter, this initiative reflects a collective effort to promote environmentally sustainable practices across borders. Scheduled for release in early 2025, this guide will be a flexible and comprehensive tool designed to meet the needs of the global animation sector, with a particular focus on international co-productions.

This guide will be based on the French Green Animation Guide, unveiled in June 2023 by Ecoprod at the Annecy Festival. The guide is currently being translated into English to serve as the foundation for a more comprehensive international edition. This expanded version will include data, studies, and examples from various countries. We invite your feedback to help us develop and refine this guide.
