Students Studying Abroad

In order to be a Lead, you must be on campus for the Spring 2026 semester. 

If you are currently abroad during your Junior Fall semester, you are welcome to apply to be a Lead as long as you are back at BC in January. Students who are currently studying abroad will participate in a virtual Ascend Lead interview.

Commitment - please read carefully

Ascend Leads are asked to make a commitment to this program from mid-October through the beginning of May. Ascend Leads must commit to the following:
Attend Ascend Leads Retreat (October 24 - 26, 2025 Fri-Sun)
Please note: the Leads Retreat is the same weekend as the Red Bandanna 5K Run and the October Kairos retreats (K268 & K269). These will not be considered excused absences unless you were previously assigned to lead Kairos in October.
- Interview and select first-year applicants (October/November - evenings based on your schedule)
- Attend 6 Lead Summit throughout the entire year (TBD)
- Attend Ascend Program-wide Overnight Retreat (January 23-24, 2026, Fri-Sat)
- Lead weekly small group meetings during the spring semester (January-April; 1-1.5hr/week based on your schedule)
- Plan small group activities for your group during the spring semester (based on your schedule)
- Attend the Ascend program-wide event during the spring semester (TBD)
Please note that the Ascend Leads Retreat on October 24 - 26, 2025 and the Ascend Overnight on January 23 - 24, 2026 are mandatory commitments for all Leads.
