Submission for The Seat and The Say

The Seat and The Say — Youth in Focus

The Seat and The Say is a Novar series that shares short reflections from young people around the world: moments when engaging, speaking up, or taking action mattered.

We believe diplomacy doesn’t only happen in parliaments or global summits. It lives in everyday life — in classrooms, communities, workplaces, and gatherings — wherever someone dares to speak, act, or create change that challenges silence and shapes understanding.

If you’ve ever taken part in a moment — big or small — where your words or actions made a difference, even in how you saw yourself, we’d love to hear it.

Your reflection may be featured on our social media, together with your photo, as part of our growing archive of young voices and actions shaping diplomacy in everyday life.

Submission Guidelines:

Length: Keep it short — around 100 to 150 words.

Focus: Describe one specific moment when you spoke up, took action, or influenced a conversation, decision, or situation.

Impact: The result can be personal or social — from self-confidence to visible change. What matters is that you tried to make a difference.

Setting: It can be local or global — a classroom, community, online campaign, protest, policy event, or everyday act of courage.

Photo: Upload a clear photo of yourself. It can be from a social or public setting, or simply a portrait that represents you authentically.

Tone: Honest, reflective, simple. We’re interested in sincerity, not perfection.
Sample Submission:
Last year I helped organise a small clean-up in my town after a flood. It started as a few friends gathering, but soon others joined, including local officials. Later, I was invited to speak about disaster planning. It wasn’t a big campaign, but it showed me that small actions can start conversations that lead to policy change.
