The Ordinary Business Podcast Application

The episodes that resonate most with our audience share one thing in common: a real, specific way you've done something differently than the standard advice — and why it works for your actual life and business.

We're not looking for frameworks or best practices. We're looking for the moment you stopped doing what everyone said you should do and built something that actually fits you.

That might look like:

- A client acquisition strategy that doesn't rely on the channels everyone's pushing - A system, tool, or workflow you ditched (and what you replaced it with — or didn't) - A business structure you built around a constraint most people would try to work around - A boundary, habit, or decision that looked unconventional from the outside but freed something up on the inside

The more specific and counterintuitive, the better. Our listeners aren't looking for inspiration — they're looking for permission and proof that a different way is actually working for someone.

Instead of sharing your expertise, you’ll be sharing a story that showcases how you think, solve problems, or approach life and business — which, yes, is also part of your brand. We take that story and connect it to your bigger philosophy.

A few things to know before you apply:

- Our audience is ordinary business owners — solopreneurs and tiny teams, usually making under $300k/year with fewer than 6k followers. They’re experienced (4–5+ years in business), have no interest in reaching 7 figures, and they’re tired of being underestimated.

- More importantly, while the podcast is all about the “ordinary,” we’re looking for stories that highlight your intentionality or unique spin. The episodes that are performing best are ones that are something really "anti" something... like how I don't use Notion/Asana, getting clients without email marketing, running a business without childcare, etc.

Not: “I can talk about how boundaries for business.”

Better: “I deleted Instagram from my phone for six months and only marketed through my email list — here’s what happened.”

Oh and... yes, we’ll give you a moment at the end to say what you do and who you help. :)

What makes your business ordinary?

Tell me about what you want to share, and be detailed! (What's the specific topic? Why is your approach different? How did you discover it / start doing this thing? What changed once you put it in place? Details help you get selected.)

What's been your favorite episode and why? Have you left a review?

This podcast is community-oriented... meaning, we’re here to lift each other up.
That includes sharing your episode when it goes live.

If you’re thinking, "But, my followers aren't business owners..." or "I don't want my competition to see behind-the-scenes..." then this probably isn’t your stage.
We’re not here for secretive energy. We’re here for open, generous, “this could help someone” energy.

You’ll be sharing a story that showcases how you think, solve problems, or approach business — which, yes, is also part of your brand. The goal is for your audience (and mine) to see a new, more human side of what you do.
