💡 What is the Venco Nigeria Hackathon 2025?

Venco is calling innovators, strategists, and bold thinkers to participate in our in-person hackathon happening at our HQ in Lagos, Nigeria in May 2025.

You’ll tackle real business challenges in one of three tracks – growth, ecosystem or people - with a chance to win big and land a hybrid role with us.

📈 GROWTH TRACK

How would you drive Venco’s expansion in a city of your choice outside Lagos?

Key questions to address in 2–3-minute video:

1. Which Nigerian city would you target and why?

2. What would be your approach to client acquisition?

3. What key challenges do you anticipate and how would you address them?

4. How would you structure the team and resources for this expansion?

ECOSYSTEM TRACK

What new revenue streams can power Venco’s next leap?

Key questions to address in your 2–3-minute video:

1. What monetization opportunity do you see as most promising for Venco?

2. How would you validate and implement this opportunity?

3. What partnerships or resources would be required?

4. How would you measure success?

PEOPLE TRACK

How do we attract and retain top talent across Nigeria, Ghana & Kenya?

Key questions to address in your 2–3-minute video:

1. What unique talent attraction strategies would work in our markets?

2. How would you approach performance and career development?

3. How would you build culture across a distributed team?

4. What metrics would you use to measure people programme effectiveness?

🎁 What You Get:

₦350,000 for the best idea per track

₦200,000 each for the 1st and 2nd runners-up in each track

Job offers (hybrid roles) for top candidate per track

FAQs

When will I hear back after submitting?

Shortlisted candidates will be notified no later than 11:59PM on 14th May 2025.

What happens at the hackathon?

During the hackathon, selected candidates will receive a comprehensive brief with detailed business context. You'll have the opportunity to develop your full solution, collaborate with Venco team members, and present your ideas to our leadership team. The event will take place in-person at Venco's office in Lagos. Physical attendance is required for participation.

Do I need to have PropTech experience?

While PropTech experience is valuable, it's not mandatory. We're looking for exceptional talent with relevant expertise in their track area (growth/business development, monetization/ecosystem building, or people/HR). What's most important is your strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and understanding of the African market context. Your approach to the challenge questions in your video submission will demonstrate these qualities.

Can I apply for multiple tracks?

No. Each applicant can apply for only one track. Please select the track that best aligns with your experience and career aspirations to create a targeted and compelling video submission.

All materials, concepts, and ideas submitted during the Venco Hackathon 2025 are considered confidential.

By submitting your application and participating in the hackathon, you agree that:

Your submission remains your intellectual property.

However, Venco retains an exclusive first-right license to review and implement submitted ideas for a period of 12 months.

You agree not to share or present your solution to direct competitors of Venco during this 12-month period.

Any concept selected for further development will be done in collaboration with Venco under mutually agreed terms.

Participants are expected to maintain the confidentiality of any information shared with them as part of this process.
