Digital Tools, AI and Digital Sovereignty for Civil Society

This survey is part of research by Participation Factory for the CIVICUS Digital Democracy Initiative. It asks how civil society especially in Global Majority countries uses digital tools for its daily work and for engaging partners and the public, how things changed since 2025, how AI is changing their work, and what would help organizations rely less on Big Tech.

It takes about 12 to 15 minutes for civil society organizations and 5 to 7 minutes for others. Taking part is voluntary and you can stop at any time. Questions marked as optional, the success and failure stories, and questions about your name and organization can be skipped. Answers are stored on Tally and reported only in aggregate.
