Because we support people with disabilities and other health needs, everyone who works with the people we support must pass background checks first.
If we offer you a role, the offer will depend on your background check results. The checks may include:
• Criminal history (state and national)
• The NC Health Care Personnel Registry
• The federal exclusion lists (OIG and SAM)Sex offender registries
• Your driving record, if the role includes driving
• Your licenses, certifications and training
We won't run any check until we give you a separate disclosure form and you sign it to give permission. That form also explains your rights under federal law.
Agreeing to a background check doesn't mean you have the role or that we'll make you an offer. A record doesn't automatically rule you out. We look at what happened, when it happened, and whether it relates to the role. Before we make a decision based on your report, we'll send you a copy and give you a chance to explain or correct it.
