Asheville Symphony Musician Application

Thank you for your interest in playing with the Asheville Symphony!
All auditions will be by MP3 audio and video application. All materials will be reviewed by an Asheville Symphony audition committee which will select finalists by mid-October. Each finalist will be invited to audition in person and lead their section for a concert week within the 2027-2027 season. All qualified candidates will be considered for future substitute opportunities.

Audio Audition Guidelines

If possible, use a quality condenser microphone. The microphone should be placed approximately 8 feet off the floor and about 6 feet in front of the instrument. This portion of the audition is intended to be anonymous. No speaking or other identifying sounds should be on the recording.
Please do not include your name in the filename -- instead, please title your MP3 "Asheville Symphony Audition ####" (last four digits of your phone number).

Video Audition Guidelines

Please provide a high quality video recording of the following excerpts in the order presented with limited time between the required excerpts. We recommend that the recording be made with a high quality camera and microphone, in a space with slightly dry acoustics and from a distance of 10-20 feet.
Upload the video to YouTube with "unlisted" visibility. Please do not include your name in the title of your video -- instead, please title your video "Asheville Symphony Audition ####" (last four digits of your phone number).
