Founding AI Engineer

We're a small senior team in the SF Bay Area, backed by investors like 776, Axiom, SF1 and more. If you want to build the future of how content is made on the internet, we'd love to hear from you. This is an in-office role in our Bay Area office.

Qualifications

- 5+ years of experience shipping real products to customers - Strong in Python and comfortable building backend systems for production - Strong product instincts, not just technical chops - Comfortable working across the stack when needed, especially with modern web tooling - AI-native: you use LLMs daily as a real part of how you think, build, and ship - Excited by fast feedback loops, ambiguity, and high ownership - You think from first principles, move fast, and love learning on the job

What you'll work on

- Building the systems that power Distro’s core product experience
- Developing agent workflows in Python
- Shipping real-time experiences across web and slack - Working on memory, orchestration, tool use, reliability, and product behavior
- Prototyping new ideas, testing them with users, and taking them to production quickly
- Working directly with founders and customers to shape the product and company
This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants to help define the product, systems, and engineering culture behind a new kind of creative software.
