The safety of riders, drivers, and the public is always the highest priority. Drivers should remain calm, assess the situation, and follow company procedures during any emergency.
If a rider or driver experiences a medical emergency:- Safely pull the vehicle over.
- Turn on hazard lights.
- Call 911 immediately if emergency medical assistance is needed.
- Provide the dispatcher with your exact location.
- Remain with the individual until emergency responders arrive if it is safe to do so.
- Notify management as soon as practical.
- Complete an Incident Report before the end of your shift.
If the vehicle becomes disabled:- Safely move the vehicle off the roadway if possible.
- Turn on hazard lights.
- Keep riders informed.
- Contact dispatch immediately.
- Follow instructions regarding a replacement vehicle or rescue driver.
- Do not attempt repairs unless authorized.
If involved in an accident:- Stop immediately.
- Check yourself and riders for injuries.
- Call 911 if anyone is injured or if required by law.
- Move to a safe location if possible.
- Notify dispatch immediately.
- Exchange required information with other involved parties.
- Do not admit fault or discuss responsibility at the scene.
- Complete an Incident Report before ending your shift.
If a rider becomes aggressive, threatening, or creates an unsafe environment:- Remain calm and professional.
- Do not argue or physically engage unless necessary to protect yourself or others.
- Safely stop the vehicle if needed.
