Share Your Story — Still Standing

You don't need to be a writer. You need to be honest. Short is fine. Ugly is fine. True is the whole job. Answer the seven beats below — one at a time — and we'll shape it into a story with you. Steve reads every story before anything publishes. And your story is yours: you decide what's shared, what's changed, and what's kept private. One hard rule, for everybody's protection: we never publish an employer's name, someone else's addiction, a crime, or anything that violates someone else's privacy.

Anything you'd like blurred out or left out entirely?

What stays private, no matter what?

Just venting?

The seven beats

1. The hero — Who is this story about?

2. The problem — What was the trap?

3. The guide — Who or what showed you a way out?

4. The plan — What did you actually do?

5. The turn — What changed?

6. The lesson — What would you tell a chef standing where you stood?

7. The pass — Who should hear this next?
