Welcome to the Neon Spires, a sprawling mega-city jutting skyward out of the Abyss, illuminated by a constant glow of neon lights amid the Smog and gloom.
The Upperworld reaches out above the clouds. The elites thrive in techno-luxury towers that would shame the monuments of the old-world empires this world buried beneath concrete and steel. Far below, is a place with two identities. To the Uppers, it is a wasteland of decay and rebellion. To its residents, it’s the Neon Veil, a vibrant melting pot of cultures, unique neighborhoods, black markets, and people who refuse to give in.
No matter what you call it, this place is ruled by EdenTech, a biotech megacorporation that seeks to dominate both body and soul with cybernetic implants and invasive AI surveillance while freedom fighters push back to reclaim what’s left of humanity and mysticism.
The WEIRD, the supernatural force that seeks those who wish to better and transform the world, hasn’t returned in over 100 years. EdenTech has made sure of it.
In this Run, your crew will chase a signal whispered through the city's underbelly: a circuit of secrets, revolution, and forgotten truths. Who are the voices behind the static, and why do they know so much about EdenTech’s darkest corners? Their cryptic messages promise answers, but at what cost? Plug in, follow the signal.
[IMPORTANT: All characters start as Prime Runners at this stage. More will be revealed]
Hi! I'm Raffi (they/them), your humble and mischievous Game Moderator and designer of Echoes of the Veil. Because you cannot separate the creator from the creations, who I am, what I experience, and how I move through the world show up in the stories I tell. I'm trans, queer, bi-racial Arab, immigrant, neurospicy, fierce activist and have always been a rebel at heart.
I started playing TTRPGs when I was 10 and I started GMing seriously about 3 years ago. I like to focus on roleplay, character development, tough choices, emotional moments, and cathartic archs. Moral gray zones are often present because they support exploring the themes that may show up.
But don't confuse these themes with seriousness either! I love humor and think it's important to balance the story and give players the opportunity to decompress through humor and joy, which are also forms of rebellion!
I'm observant, sensitive, and prioritize narrative consent above all, so whatever shape the story ends up taking, it's the right one! We will discuss table agreements together until everyone feels like we are in a good place.
I am so excited that you're considering being part of this journey and thank you for your trust!
Storytellers are responsible for:
• Table safety including:
-gathering and updating safety & consent forms,
-confirming red/yellow procedures before, during, and after each session
-ensuring communication throughout game and during aftercare/through the week
• Being prepared before each session, including maps, session notes, character information etc.
• Arrive at call time 30 minutes prior to live stream for tech & connection building
• If the ST must miss a session giving at least a week's notice to players and channel so that other programming can be arranged. (Obviously emergencies happen, and your mental health and safety are primary concerns to us!)
• Checking in with players throughout the week for the length campaign to ensure that everyone is doing well and to nurture a safe relationship anchor for uncomfortable conversations.
• Bringing concerns to the table without throwing players under the bus or pitting players against each other.
* Whenever possible, ST are NOT responsible to produce or moderate their own stream- allowing them to focus on the game and players
