Yes, down to specifics: who takes which shift, how our feeding method shapes the split, what "off duty" actually means (earplugs, separate room, genuinely off).

We've talked about splitting nights but haven't gotten into how that works logistically.

We've said "we'll take turns" or "we'll figure it out when the baby's here."

Not yet. We're assuming we'll adjust on the fly.

Q3: The Night Shift Plan

We've talked about it. We have a way to make a specific ask without it landing as a guilt trip ("I need you to take the next feed" vs. "I need more help").

We're good communicators. It would come out fine.

I think we'd just say something in the moment.

I hadn't thought about this as something that needs a plan.

Q4: The Specific Ask

The baby cycles every 2-3 hours. Most of the day is the loop: feed, burp, diaper, awake time, nap attempt. "Productive" means the baby is alive and I've eaten.

Tiring, but I'm hoping to find a rhythm. Maybe get a few things done around the house during naps.

I've been focused on the birth and the first few days home. I haven't thought much about week three.

Q5: The First Tuesday

I've researched my preferred method AND a realistic backup, because I know the first choice might not work out.

I have a strong preference and I've done my homework on that method.

I'll try breastfeeding and see how it goes.

I haven't thought much about feeding logistics beyond the general idea.

Q6: The Feeding Plan

At least 30 minutes of lead time. Diaper bag, feeding window, clean diaper, backup outfit for the baby, backup shirt for me.

15-20 minutes? Pack the essentials, get the baby in the car seat, go.

I haven't thought about it specifically. Probably similar to now, just with more stuff.

I'm planning to stay home mostly for the first few weeks, so this isn't top of mind.

Q7: The Leaving-the-House Math

Yes. I've calculated the net per-paycheck number, including short-term disability, any PTO I'm burning, and any unpaid weeks.

I know my company's leave policy, but I haven't modeled the actual paycheck math.
