Sports Copywriter (Royal Challengers Bengaluru)

Okay Done is a digital marketing agency with a diverse clientele, such as Royal Challengers Bengaluru, OnePlus, VRL, Google, Bengaluru City Police, Heineken, and Health Care Global to name a few. We work across various industries, including sports, consumer, hospitality, luxury, F&B, real estate, and D2C.

Overview

Location: Bengaluru (On-site) | Type: Full-time | Industry: Sports
We wrote the 'Ee Sala Cup Namde' campaign for RCB in 2017. If this is a team you want to be a part of, then you're lucky, cos we’re looking for a sharp, sports-obsessed Copywriter to join our team and work exclusively on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru account. If you can switch tones faster than a T20 powerplay, crack witty captions under pressure, understand fan emotions instinctively, and write for Gen Z and Millennials with equal ease, this role is built for you.
DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU DON'T live inside matchdays, memes, rivalries, narrative shifts, and the chaos that makes sports culture addictive.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Write high impact copy for RCB’s social media, including captions, hooks, punchlines, and rapid-fire matchday updates.
• Craft witty, smart, emotionally aware content that captures fan sentiment and builds hype around players, matches, rivalries, and big sports moments.
• Stay plugged into Twitter/X culture, meme formats, platform trends, and fan conversations to ensure every line feels timely, witty, and culturally sharp.
• Shift tone seamlessly between Gen Z, Millennial, emotional, informative, and brand-safe depending on the context.
• Maintain RCB’s distinct tone of voice while adding freshness, cultural relevance, and a fan-first personality to every piece of copy.
• Develop short scripts, concept lines, and ideas for reels, skits, and YouTube content.
• Work in a fast-paced, real-time environment and deliver quick turnarounds during matchdays and other high-pressure moments.
• Track sports trends, meme formats, and digital content styles used by top global sports teams to maintain international standard writing.
• Collaborate closely with designers, editors, and the social team to turn ideas into high quality creative output.
• Contribute to off-season content around Indian cricket, major sports tournaments, global football culture, and other relevant sports storylines.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a sports copywriter for a team, franchise, league, or tournament.
• Proven ability to write witty, fast-turnaround sports copy under real-time pressure.
• Strong understanding of sports culture, fan emotion, rivalries, narratives, and hype cycles.
• Ability to shift tone naturally between Gen Z, Millennial, emotional, conversational, and brand-safe styles.
• Hands on experience writing for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, and YouTube, specifically for sports content.
• Ability to write hooks, punchlines, short scripts, captions, and rapid reaction lines with clarity and creativity.
• Deep awareness of internet culture, memes, formats, and platform-specific behaviours.
• Familiarity with global sports content (football clubs, global tournaments) and the ability to match international creative standards.
• Familiarity with AI tools for writing and research is an added advantage.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with designers, editors, and social teams.
• Strong command of written English; proficiency in Hindi or Kannada is an added advantage.
