Becoming Recognisable

I believe too many people are building businesses around who they think they should be, rather than who they actually are!

Through my work, and my own journey with autism, ADHD and unmasking, I've seen how much of ourselves we learn to hide to fit in!!!! I have also experienced the burnout it causes.

What if the very things we've been taught to soften, hide or make smaller are what make us recognisable?????

I want people to feel free enough to build businesses that feel like an extension of who they are, not another place where they have to perform.

You are the experiences that shaped you. The things you believe. The boundaries you won't cross. The energy you bring into a room. The people who just get you....

Sometimes life changes so much that we lose sight of who we are beneath all the roles, expectations and versions of ourselves we've learned to perform.

But you haven't disappeared!!!!

Forget your job title for a moment....

Forget what you think a business owner, creative, professional or successful person is supposed to look like.

Let's start with you. The actual human being.

ORIGIN - The moment where something shifted, and led you to what you have become...

1. What experiences or moments have fundamentally changed the way you see the world?

Think beyond milestones. It might be something you lived through, witnessed, questioned, or realised that changed what matters to you.

What stayed with you?

Looking back at those experiences, what did they leave you with?

Perhaps a belief, a different perspective, a deep sense of empathy, a determination to do things differently, or a particular understanding of people.

What do you notice, understand or care about that other people often seem to overlook?

What feels obvious to you, but perhaps isn't obvious to everyone else?

Your story isn't simply what happened, it's what changed because of it....

YOUR WHY...

The emotional truth behind your work. What you care about, why it matters, and the difference you want to make.

What is it about your work that matters to you on a deeply personal level?

What experience, belief or feeling makes this more than just a job?

What do you feel strongly about changing, challenging or protecting in your industry or the world around you?

What frustrates you, breaks your heart, or makes you think, there has to be a better way?

Beyond the product or service you provide, how do you want people to feel because of the work you do?

What do you want them to experience, believe about themselves, or walk away knowing?

IDENTITY

The person behind the brand. The energy, beliefs and personality that make it feel unmistakably you.

When you stop thinking about how you should show up professionally, what parts of your personality naturally come through?

Think about your humour, energy, quirks, the way you communicate, and the parts of you that your closest people know best.

What do you stand for, and what will you never compromise on, even if it costs you an opportunity, a client or approval?

What are your hard no's? What do you believe so strongly that it shapes how you work???? This is a hard one and maybe one you haven't thought much about. But you live this.

If your brand walked into a room before you said a word, what would you want people to feel?

Not what would they see. What would they sense about you? What atmosphere, energy or impression would you want to leave behind?

Your tribe. Or People. Apparently tribe is uncool. I like tribe.

Not demographics!!!!! Not your ideal client being a woman aged 35–50 who likes coffee and yoga!!! It has GOT to be deeper than that.

Who do you instinctively understand, because you recognise something of yourself, your experiences or your perspective in them?

Who do you find yourself wanting to help, champion or make space for?

What are these people experiencing, feeling or struggling with that they might not know how to articulate themselves?

What do you understand about them that they may not feel other people understand?

Who do you want to feel seen, understood or at home in your world, and who might not be the right fit?

What kind of people, values or ways of working do you naturally connect with?

Bringing it all together...

Look back at your answers and complete the following:

1. I believe...

What is something you believe about your work, your industry or the world that you would stand by even if nobody agreed with you?

2. I care deeply about...

What matters so much to you that it influences the way you work, the people you help and the decisions you make?

3. I want people to feel...

When someone encounters your business, what do you want them to experience emotionally?

4. I help...

Who are the people you understand, connect with and want to make a difference for?

5. I do this by...

What do you actually bring into their lives through your work?
