Thank you for your interest in volunteering with MGA.
MGA is a volunteer-run organization that relies on the talent of its members to give direction
for the group. We have a range of volunteer roles which can be short and task-specific in nature
or more involved. Those who join our Leadership Team collaborate with a warm, creative,
dedicated, and insightful group that knows when get to work and when to cut loose! We also
engage high school volunteers to whom we delegate specific supervised tasks. Our Leadership
Team meets once monthly with subgroups meeting independently to connect and collaborate
on MGA matters

Assistant Treasurer - We are in urgent need of an Assistant Treasurer. Our long-time treasurer, Lynda Warne, is moving away from Markham. We will miss her greatly and appreciate that she will be supporting us through a transition period. We now need someone with good acumen for accounting or bookkeeping to take on the management of invoices and payments, book keeping, and other related tasks.
Communications - Do you have a way with words? MGA is in need of a Communications Director who creates the newsletter and sends out occasional email blasts to the membership. This role is essential for the continuation of internal communications within the membership. The ability to use software like Canva or Mail Chimp would be great, but is not essential as the newsletter could be sent out via email.
Programming - Are you eager to meet new visual artists and bring them to MGA for presentations and workshops? Vera Walton, our MGA Programming Director for the past three years, will be moving on in the spring to focus on her own work. We are looking for someone to invite, schedule, and support our guest presenters. Though this role seems daunting, really it isn’t. It involves three simple steps: 1) reaching out to potential presenters and confirming dates on our schedule, 2) asking them to fill out a form on our Presenters Portal (which contains all the details of the events), and 3) following up with presenters about one month prior to the scheduled date.
