The Sandy Pruett Project represents families living through the consequences of untreated Severe Mental Illness. When care is denied, families change in quiet, painful ways. Some drift apart. Some live with distance that love can’t bridge. Others watch someone they care for fade, sometimes in chaos, sometimes in silence. Many spend years trying to find help that never comes.
Every story is real. Every name is protected. Every voice matters.
Sandy is not a person, but a collective voice for the spouse, parent, or sibling whose loved one sees them as the enemy, for the caregiver shut out by a system that hides behind “HIPAA,” for the loved one trying to stay in care that won’t hold onto them, and for those who didn’t survive the wait.
We tell these stories because silence protects no one. No names. No shame. Just truth.
These stories will be copied and shared so legislators can see what families are enduring, and why reform is urgent. Choose how you would like to share your story:
