The HARF Project | Human Agency, Reasoning and Futures

A study with the academic community in the Boston area

How is artificial intelligence becoming part of the way we think, write, and make decisions?
HARF investigates how members of the academic community in the Boston area are incorporating generative AI tools into their writing, thinking, and judgment.
This questionnaire takes approximately 5–7 minutes.
This is the first stage of the study. In December, participants who are willing will be invited to take part in a brief follow-up.
In return, we will share a summary of the main findings, and participants may receive an invitation to an event on AI and society in the first half of 2027, where we will discuss the results and broaden this conversation with the community. Your participation will help us better understand how people and communities are navigating their relationship with AI, and what they believe should shape its future.
There are no right or wrong answers. We are interested in your actual experience, including situations in which you prefer not to use AI.
Responses will be treated confidentially, and research findings will be reported in aggregate. Selected excerpts from individual responses may be published without identifying information, using pseudonyms where appropriate. Participants will be identified by name only with their explicit consent.

I have read the information above and agree to participate in this study.
