Thank you for your interest in joining Stories of Immigrants Ally Network! The Ally Network is a free online community for people who want to take action toward immigration reform, both in their local communities and nationwide. Immigration is affecting families in every part of the country right now, and none of us can do this alone. This is a place to stay informed, stay in community, and stay connected to one another.
- Regular updates and action items. You’ll hear what’s happening in immigration, including news, policy changes, and other important updates, along with simple actions you can take based on the time you have.
- Monthly general trainings on how immigration works and what’s changing. These cover the basics of immigration law, the differences between statuses like DACA, TPS, and asylum, and how families and allies can prepare and respond when someone is at risk.
- Advocacy trainings that go deeper into how change actually happens and how you can speak up: on current legislation, with your local and congressional representatives, and with ready to go scripts and materials so you never have to start from scratch.
- Storytelling coffee chats and events where we bring in immigrants and allies of immigrants to share their experiences firsthand. These gatherings are also a chance to connect and network with others in the community.
- A growing resource and video library with guides, recordings, and tools so you can find what you need when you need it.
- A community space to share what you’re learning, ask questions, and connect with others who care.
- The Organizer Pathway, an eight week advocacy training for beginners who are new to immigration advocacy (see below).
The Organizer Pathway is open to Ally Network members and designed for people who care deeply about immigration but have never done advocacy before. Over eight weeks, you’ll learn how advocacy works and then put it into practice, with a mentor walking alongside you the whole way. Each week includes a short lesson and one assignment made of a few connected steps. Expect to spend up to about two hours a week. By the end, you’ll have real experience under your belt and the confidence to keep advocating on your own.
New groups start every two months and spots are limited.
