2025 Residency @ Augmentation Lab

At the Augmentation Residency, a cohort of ~20 engineers, research designers, artists, and scientists live and work together on human augmentation during the summer. Each year, we open the doors of our home in Cambridge, MA to forward-thinking creators as a live-in research & development accelerator.

We value deep reflection on the long-term anthropological, philosophical, and cultural impacts of technology. Our program combines technical skills with applied practice of the humanities to pursue human flourishing.

Together, we work on human augmentation technologies and approaches.

The Augmentation Residency is a collaborative, autodidactic co-living program. For this collaboration to thrive, we expect truth-seeking, disciplined creativity, and humility from each of our residents.

In the past, our friends worked on: gaze-controlled supernumerary robotic limbs, BCI hardware to interface with emotional states, natural language-driven game engines for mixed reality, headband haptics for screenless gaming, haptic ring for magnetoreceptivity

Residents will have access to personalized mentorship and the opportunity to showcase their work at the Augmentation Summit, a community event to explore the future of human-computer symbiosis. This year's residency will be captured in a video series showcasing life and projects inside the hacker houses.
